How much does it cost to refinish a small amount of hardwood floor?
At my house there is this small amount of hardwood floor in front of the door that is all brown from people and dogs walking all over it in the winter and it doesn’t have a rug on it it KILLS me to see it like that and one set of our stairs are all like that too. How much would this cost?

Resurfacing hardwood floor to fix one spot?
I recently moved out of an apartment where something spilled on the hardwood floor in the bedroom. I could not get it out when I did my final cleanup, and it looked like it abraded the floor.
I was told the entire bedroom floor would have to be sanded and refinished, because a spot treatment would not match the surrounding wood. That seemed so excessive to me. Is there an easier way to do it or is refinishing the entire floor truly the only answer? (I do not know what spilled but I suspect nail polish remover)

Can you install engineered hardwood flooring just like a laminate?
I don’t like the look of laminates compared to wood, but I have a concrete slab and can’t afford the expensive installation process of putting in a solid hardwood floor. Do all engineered floors have the option of a floating glue-together installation, or are they just glue-down?

Will a carpet harm a hardwood floor?
I spent 8K to have an old hardwood floor sanded and refinished throughout a classic house, now my wife thinks the floors are cold and wants to put throw rugs/carpets down. Will that scratch or damage the finish? Is there something to put under the rugs I should know about?

what order should i do this in…paint ceiling, walls, rip up rug, refinish and varnish floors, paint trim.?
for my kids room. don’t know which order would make most sense. if i paint first i don’t need a drop cloth. if i finish the hardwood floor first the finish might be scratched up during painting. i can’t decide.

How hard/costly is it to sand and refinish a painted wood floor?
The hardwood floor in one of the rooms of my house was painted black (presumably latex paint) by a former resident. The paint is currently peeling, and I would like to sand the paint off the floor and refinish it like a normal human being and not some emo teenager. Having never done this I was wondering how difficult and costly this process is. Is this feasible for someone with no experience?
